FURNACE REPAIR SERVICES - DO YOU NEED OUR HELP?

Some furnace malfunctions will definitely require professional service. Major furnace repairs require technically advanced training and know-how, also if your furnace is more than 10-12 years old and needs large repairs the most cost effective and sound action to take might be to replace the system with a newer and more efficient model.

But, there are some things to check with your home's furnace system if it's malfunctioned or has stopped working correctly, before you schedule a service visit with us. These are:

  • Check the Thermostat:
    • It sounds silly, but sometimes your thermostat is off, make sure it's on and set to heat, and set to a temperature above the ambient temperature of the space.
    • Sometimes your thermostats batteries will be dead or on the way out, change them with fresh batteries and start the system again.
  • Power: After checking the thermostat, go to your furnace and make sure the system switch is turned on (this is usually a red toggle switch with a red cover-plate)
    • Next, check your home's circuit breaker panel, find the furnace system breaker and make sure this is switched to on
  • Gas Supply:
    • Check your natural gas or LP supply to make sure there is fuel available to your furnace.
  • Airflow:
    • Ensure that both your supply and return air registers are free of obstructions.
    • Change your furnace filter and re-start your furnace.

After running through the checklist, if your furnace system still shows no sign of proper functioning it's time to give us a call for service. We'll send out one of our certified heating technicians to give your furnace a comprehensive service and repair check.

We value transparency, and so if we find that it would make more sense to replace the system, we'll work with you every step of the way to find the best replacement furnace from Armstrong Air.
